About the award

Established in 2022, the Hungarian Book Design Award aims to collect and showcase the highest-quality designed and produced publications in domestic publishing year after year. From books published in the given calendar year, an expert jury selects the best in two rounds; these are then featured in an exhibition of winners and included in the award's printed and online catalog. The award does not include a cash prize.

The award focuses on book design as an applied profession and an essential part of the publishing industry as a whole. The organizers' explicit goal is to integrate Hungarian book design into international professional networks; therefore, they commit to entering the winners each year into the Best Book Design from all over the World international competition organized by Stiftung Buchkunst.
